Fancy A Game Of Scrabble?

On the 5th July two of our (mine and the hubby's) best friends got married. I love the idea of personalising things to make them extra special so as part of their present I made them this....

I had seen these sorts of things several times and really wanted to have a go at making one. I used their names and surname and also added the words married and forever. The colour they had for their wedding was red which is why I added the red hearts. I was careful not to go too OTT with it as I think it looks more effective when it is quite simple. The frame I used was a box frame from The Range and I just bought some backing card to do the design on.

I was really happy with the finished product :)
Will definitely be doing more things like this!

1st Bloggiversary Post!

Yesterday was my 1st Bloggiversary! For this post I thought I would do something cute and fun so I decided to do a short but pic heavy post on the world of mini's.

Nail polishes purchased from shops are usually full size which is around 15ml, however sometimes you may stumble across some mini's. These are smaller versions of the full size bottles usually around 5ml. These tend to come in monthly beauty boxes or in special sets such as the Ciate Dolls House Collection.

I have taken some pictures to show a few versions of what the mini's look like (and how cute they are)

                                                                 OPI......

China Glaze....

Nails Inc.....

Essie.....

Ciate......

Color Club.....

I think OPI are prob the cutest, to give you more of an idea how didi they are here is a pic of it in my hand.....

Soooo, Happy Bloggiversary to me!!

Thanks for everyone's support and for taking the time to read my posts.

Birchbox July 2014

So yesterday I received my July Birchbox. At first I was a bit disappointed as I hadn't received one of the Models Own polishes but after further inspection I was quite happy with what I received.
The theme for this month's box is Sun, Sea and Sand.

First item is my favourite, it's the Laqa & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Bees Knees.

From what I have seen there were two colours in the boxes of the lip pencils, coral and purple. As much as I love the colour purple I'm glad I got the coral as I am quite pale. I have also been looking for a nice coral lip colour for a while. The pencil is easy to apply and goes on very smoothly. It feels strangely refreshing when on your lips. I'm guessing this is full size and it is worth £14.

Next up is Benefit's 'The Porefessional'. I got one of these in a magazine a few months ago so had already tried it. Have only used it a couple of times but like how smooth it felt on the skin. This is only a sample size (although a good sample size) but the full size is £24.50 for 22ml.

Balance Me is a brand that keeps cropping up for me but most of the products haven't been something I would try, however this I will definitely be giving a go. The Wonder Eye cream is another good size sample. Full size is £20 for 15ml.

Below is Compagnie De Province Mediterranean Sea Hand Cream. I always welcome hand cream as I use quite a lot of it. I found the packaging of it a little strange as it wasn't clear straight away what it actually was (unless you speak French). It's not the nicest smell in the world but the scent definitely matches the name, it's a bit of a salty sea smell. I'm not sure if this is full size or a sample size but the normal price is £8.50.

The last product from my box is Gilchrist & Soames English Spa Sea Kelp Extract Mineral Bath. Not sure if I will use this or not as I prefer a shower to a bath, however it smells quite nice :)
This is another good size sample! Full size is worth £11.25.

As a lifestyle extra in my box I got this Vita Coco Natural Coconut Water in Lemonade. I don't know what anyone else thinks of it but I tried it and all I can say is YUCK!!! Far too sweet for me!lol. These are £2.29 and are apparently the celeb's favourite uber-hydrating drink!

So...that's the excitement over for another month :)
What did you all think of your boxes?

Wedding Scrap Book

Just over a year ago was my wedding day. I kept pretty much everything from the wedding which I put in a box so that I could sort it out when I had time. Due to life being so busy I have only just completed sorting it out into a scrapbook.

I bought my scrapbook from The Works. It has a patterned front with 20 pages inside which are protected by plastic.

On the front cover there is space to put a photo so I popped one of the Hubby and myself in there.

The first few pages are taken up by our cards. I cut out everyone's messages and some of the pictures off the front of the cards.

Then I added in things such as my written out table plan, table name cards, bride and groom place cards, the speeches and other little bits from the day which were small enough to fit in.

Finally on the last pages I added bits and bobs from our honeymoon. Plane tickets, a postcard we bought, cocktail umbrella, hotel wrist bands etc..

Scrapbooks are so good to keep memories in and I love looking back through this one. I am a bit of a hoarder so when I go anywhere special I tend to keep as much as I can from the experience. This is a good trait to have when it comes to scrapbooking :)

Bloggers Do Organisation Better

Topic number 7 of the #bloggersdoitbetter challenge is ORGANISATION!!

Organisation is one of my favourite things to do. I am always changing things around and reorganising them when I'm at home. Recently I have started reorganising my nail polishes. For part of this I have been cataloging them. I use an app on my iPhone called polish book and I have also started to put them into a folder.

I know a lot of people use spreadsheets to organise their polishes but I was finding this a hard way of doing it and decided to do it differently, I bought myself a normal folder...

Next I started to write in my nail polishes one brand at a time....

At the top of each page I drew out the brand names....

For each polish I have put the name, polish number, collection and year, and a swatch....

For some polishes I was extra sad and researched into which collection they were from as I wasn't sure due to them being older ones.

Primark Nail Polish Twist Pot Review

I have been looking for one of these twist pots from Primark for ages so was very happy the other day when I finally found one :)

These are just £1 from Primark and are perfect for those of us who like to take polish off quickly without making too much mess.
All you have to do is pop your finger/thumb into the pot and twist. The pot has a pre-soaked sponge inside.
Below are pics of my nails before, during and after use.....

The nail polish I had on was a shimmery one so it did take a few twists to remove it but it still worked effectively. Not sure how long it will last for but I would definitely buy one again.
